Sky BB exit to BT fibre - can I retain Sky line rental and Sky Talk?

Currently on Sky Unlimited ADSL broadband with Sky Line Rental and Sky Talk package for phone.

Sky have royally screwed up my fibre order, and are seemingly incapable of sorting it out before I die of old age.

Question; if I cancel BB and swith to BT fibre, can I retain Sky Talk?

Sky haven't been able to get the 1571 message service working after three attempts in the last year (I have never had a positive result on the phone to Sky - ever) but it is cost effective.

      Thanks.

In a word, no. Sky lines are not recognised as BT compatible and apart from that it will be a condition of BTI fibre that you take BT line rental.

Not sure if you can, or if it would benefit you doing that.

I didn't look into everything on BT site, but it seemed most of BT infinity packages came with atleast free evening and weekend calls. If you don't make atleast 2 calls from that package per month you will get charged more for your package, and it seems alot more too.

Sorry to hear SKY messed your order up too.

Ta - have cancelled the Sky fibre order this afternoon; having received no substantive progress since last Friday I have no confidence that the Sky fibre team could find their own backsides if they were allowed to use both hands, let alone sort out my order on the internal Sky systems.

Looks like BT is the way to go to get fibre.

Re: Sky BB exit to BT - can I retain Sky Talk?

We have commented elsewhere on this forum that Sky are having problems with some of their internal systems.

This is really disappointing from a customer's perspective, but I understand that someone is working hard to fix things.

Suggesting that the Fibre team are doing nothing is a little unfair, but I do understand the frustration and disappointment

Then "someone" needs to work faster - and maybe get a little help?

In terms of communicating any meaningful information to me the fibre team were hopeless - and they are seemingly incapable of taking any proactive action or management of the issue with my order; any progress has always been "tomorrow".

There is nothing unfair in my comments; they reflect my current personal experience.

Re: Sky BB exit to BT - can I retain Sky Talk?

Do you have a mobile number registered with sky?

If so watch out for any texts to it from them. They will be along the lines of: you recently spoke to one of our advisors. how would you rate your experience, would you be prepared to recommend SKY to a friend text back (0) for unlikely and (10) for excellent and very likely.

Obviously send back (0) as it's free and they will phone you. see what they will offer .

As for BT they do have bad rep and they deserve it. Not everyone has problems with them though. From what i gather contacting the mods on there forums is the quickest and best way to get things sorted and misses out the indian CS.

Due to have BT installed friday after ordering on the 27th. Home hub 3 arrived this morning along with emails, texts and letters through the post stating everything was on track for new line fitting and infinity going live on friday with the 2 engineer visits.

I am keeping my SKY line seperate as i will get SFU on it when available as i do prefer SKY overall, but with the offers i got from sky this has nearly paid for the expenditure of the new line and 18months of infinity.

Will keep you posted how it goes.

Hi Paul, I see you have bts fiber, how's the speed at peak times, you speeds look insane to me ;-), reason I stayed with sky is because Bts peak time speed cap ... Is this still happening ?
