40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be?

This is a discussion on 40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be? within the Sky Broadband (Fibre) Help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I'm hoping for a free upgrade. I don't think it's so impossible. 40/2 seems a little unattractive from the company ...

Agreed. I can't see them charging for it. Or if they do at first, I can't see it being long til the 40/2 is ditched and the 40/10 goes to 20/m

I also agree. What would be the point in them introducing a 40/10 package for 25 when surely that won't do much good for the Fibre Pro package.

Re: 40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be?

They probably will increase the speeds for fibre from 40/2 to 40/10 and may possibly do it for free or as a sweetener to stop churn etc if anything is going to happen speed wise, it should start tomorrow. (as per rumour) Whats not clear is if this will be the rollout of 40/10 etc or maybe just the option for 80/20 etc

There has been loads of hearsay the last week or so,

      • Higher speeds as from 1st May
      • Existing customers cannot get 80/20 until June
      • Existing customers should be able to order within a week etc

We will just have to see what happens, as it seems to be gaining momentum now.

Sky must now see that there is a huge demand for their fibre offerings, rather than what was said weeks ago, 'They were unsure as to demand etc'

Re: 40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be?

Considering how long it seems to take sky to update their website (and staff in somecases), I would guess it would be by phone if anything first. They will probably work on sorting out the 80/20 stuff before the 40/10

Might give them a bell at lunch and see if I can punt at 80/20

Re: 40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be?

Someone on Twitter has rang the Fibre team and was refferred to Sky's website. Obviously that says nothing at the moment.

      The rumour did say that
the speed increases would start 1st May unless something else goes wrong!
But like we say, it was not clear if it meant 40/10 or 80/20

Guess we will just have to wait a little longer.

Re: 40/10, when's it coming and how much will it be?

Going off the FTTC-GEA pricing which is annual pricing.

      40/2 80 connection 82.80 annual rental.
      40/10 80 connection 88.80 " "
      80/20 80 connection 119.40 " "

If these are the prices sky will be charged by OR surely there will be an increase between the 40/2 and 40/10 so 25 could be likely for 40/10 package.

uplift charges are on specail offer for 10 so 40/2 to 80/20 costs 10. 26.00 4 new BT modem so don't break it
