Real world test then, I uploaded a 10mb file to a public FTP server.

      Here are the results: -

      ftp> send 10MB_zero.bin
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for 10MB_zero.bin.
      226 Transfer complete.
      10485760 bytes sent in 43.96 secs (232.9 kB/s)

      That's pretty much 2Mbit

Re: New Installs show us your Speed

My fibre installation went very smoothly. Although Sky were quoting me 40mbps in their speed test and letter, I was a bit sceptical since the old BT checker was only quoting me 26 and even for the new "Infinity 100mb" (I thought it was 80 ) service only says 39.9.

Anyway the engineer's device showed 37 (with 38 max). The router actually syncs at 34.25 and average throughput is 32-33. Great result since I am quite a way from the cabinet.

Edit: Also, he was quite happy to use my existing 5m dsl cable from the main socket and hung the modem on the wall behind the TV right next to where I have the router.

For some reason my speed test say that I'm 50 miles from London. I'm in Bradford which is strange. When I do a speed test it usually picks Manchester on my old adls connection. Now it chooses London automatically, but when I did a manual Manchester speed test my results were poor. Have you tried different servers or are they all showing the same.
