      Speed -vs- Cost

As SkyUser predicted last week Sky Launched Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro, the bad news for some is they want 30pm. So with that in mind just how much would you pay for an upto 80/20 connection....

With a bit of luck the suits at Sky may take an occasional look at these forums and see the light....

I reckon that the 80/20 package will be the least popular. It'll only attract those of us who are near enough our exchanges to see the difference. 30 without the guarantee of doing any better than 40/2 or 40/10 won't sit well for most.

for me personally 30 is to much but I ant complaining its new new tech is bound to be expensive as all things are when they first come out.

I think he means, the further away from your fibre cabinet the more drop off in speed you get. Some people refer to their fibre cabinet as their exchange now as it does most of the work.

      Re: Speed -vs- Cost

Yes, but that is a dodgy statement at best. It should say - cabinet, not exchange.

Anyway, I am more than happy to pay 30 a month for 80Mbit.

The way I see it: -

      7.50 got me 13Mb
      20 gets me 40Mb
30 gets me 80Mb (And my max rate is 80/20, so cross-talk aside I'd get the full 80)

However, for those who would get 45-50Mb, I'd say no, an extra 10 is not worth it. In my mind I'd want to be receiving at least 60Mb to justify the extra 10.

      Re: Speed -vs- Cost

That was my thinking also hence me asking, as if he does mean the Exchange then Chris is plain wrong with his statement, New DSLAM yes. The reason I say this is because there are only 2 Cab's further from the exchange then mine and with FTTC no lost of speed. I'm around 140m+ from the Dslam and have good speed. See I'm not sure if we are lucky or not as we don't suffer from speed drops due to cross-talk and our Dslam is full (200 Slots) and in fact BT have installed another 1 30m odd away from the first.
