Great news, would be even better if they offered it for the same price as the 40/2

This has now been confirmed by a known (unofficial) Sky staffer, that it is true, and that you can find out if it is available by using the Sky checker, and then order, if offered.

      disappointing for 2 reasons

      1) it looks as though, at this time, its not available to me, the checker still hates my landline number and it doesn't get offered based on my address

      2) its 30, thats more than BT which is very surprising, i thought they might of offered for 25

      1) This is only just being rolled out, keep checking

      2) Its a 12 month contract not an 18 month one

      3) In less than a week Sky have reacted to the market

      4) I would expect more offerings etc asap

We did report that Sky were hit for six when BT announced their doubling of speeds FOC - Sky are obviously looking at ways to combat this.

Things are moving so fast, it is unreal. I wonder what will be available next week?

Before BT released there 80/20 product I was told by them that the price would stay the same as there 40/10. Sky knew that BT had plans, as we all did, that the BT speed increase was coming in April so I don't think sky have reacted within a week. Plans should have been put in place to compete with them long ago. For Sky also to come in with 80/20 and be more expensive than BT is a mistake in my book. If Sky come in with maybe a 80/10 product, with no, or even a little price increase, they could blow BT out of the water.

I agree, if sky have a 80/10 package with little or no increase to the current price that would be awesome. I'm a little disappointed that they haven't just offered the speed increase to those that can get it for free like BT but they're moving in the right direction at least. I suppose for some if their line can't achieve much more than 40 they're not going to want to splash out an extra tenner a month for a few mbit more.
