I dont know how I will contain myself when the next big upgrade to 300mb download becomes available possibly in the next 12 to 18 months... maybe its cost will calm me down a bit.

We are all a bit nuts including myself. Do we really need all this speed except to satisfy our geeky appetite? Answer no. It's all good though

The cost most certainly will make you think twice...will you be willing to pay upwards of ~1k to get BTO to run the fibre to your house?

Gulp, Yep...that would make me think more than twice,,,FTTP will be a big no no if they went anywhere near installation costs like that...as the government is driving the increase in broadband speeds with incentives for companies like BTO to achieve domestic targets I hope prices will be a lot more realistic than those that businesses will need to pay....however I am sure I will be more than happy with my 80/20 for quite a while yet...when its activated that is.

I am probably a bit naive here but if Virgin can keep rices low then surely BTO can do the same...dont shoot me I am only thinking out loud..

Fair enough. The only reason Virgin have their prices as they are is to retain and get custom. If they priced it so they would be able to cable up the rest of the country and make a tidy profit of it, no one would want to buy their services! They've only just started turning a profit because of the costs of installing the cable networks in the first place. So Sky have been making a profit for ages while it's taken VM 20 years or so. BTO will want a quicker payback than that I think, but they will also price it so Joe Bloggs can have it if he wants (read installation costs spread over a set contract length).

      Hope you enjoy SFUP dude!
