Presumably, this whole exercise is a managed leak by Sky to test the waters and see what they can get away with charging.
Funnily enough a few people have said that in private conversations.

However, that would indicate, that Sky have nobbled who gives us information, as it is those same people.

We hear a lot of rumours, and we discuss plenty of them in Area 51 - However, we do not usually give out any information on the forum, unless several sources confirm the same thing multiple times.

The chances of it being a controlled leak I would say are pretty low, purely, because, Sky would have had to give the brief to everyone, for our sources to relay to us, if that makes sense.

Although, I do take onboard the information and the logic behind the information in this post http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky-b...tml#post368762

I see your logic. The alternative explanation would be that Sky use the same three people to manage lots of leaks.

I love a good conspiracy theory, I'm afraid

I certainly wouldn't pay an additional 10 for this product as my line is estimated at 52/15. That's a lot of for little gain.

At 30pm you could afford BT Infinity & a VPN to ensure line rate on all protocols. It's also more than Talk Talk.

I would say the most Sky can charge for 80/20 and remain competitive is 26, i.e. the same as BT. 40/2 also looks a bit weak now so I hope that the 20 product will be upgraded to 40/10 - if only 'cos I'm due to get it on Monday

Personally I would consider changing the pricing structure, but obviously I don't know the costings behind it all.

Something like the following might be acceptable:
      • SBUF Lite - 40/2 - 17.50 per month
      • SBUF - 40/10 - 20 per month
      • SBUF Pro - 80/20 - 25 per month

Add to all these prices Sky Talk Line Rental and Sky should remain quite competitive.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

and undercuts BT by 1 on the BB, 2.35 on the line rental and only a 12 month contract with unlimited download, if they offered the packages at this price i would snap their hand off for double the speed for an extra 5

I'd jump on board at 25 per month. As I'm paying 20 at the minute for 40/2
