      B) If the connections are discounted, then it should really apply to everyone surely. The more they sign up the more that they save, and then make more profit on

People are going to get a little annoyed that it is purely for new customers, unless it is relaxed very soon.

Although saying that, I wonder how many people could actually be bothered to swap from Sky Line Rental to BT Line Rental (or any other ISPs name here) just to get the faster speeds rather than hold out another 6 weeks or so.
When I was playing Mr X yestrday and called sky I was told it was only those who were already on fibre could not upgrade until June and those who were on LLU would be able to move to 80/20 fibre in May. But things at sky change like the weather or the agent could have just been telling me anything

That is how I understood things as well tbh - Mind you last week it was being denied that 80/20 was coming anyway, lets leave it another week lol

      Right had this clarified -

80/20 product at 30 a month is currently only available for new fibre orders - i.e any new Sky broadband customers or existing ADSL customers upgrading to Fibre.

Its due to the fibre order system not allowing an existing 40/2 fibre order to switch to the faster 80/20 product. This upgrade system should be done by June so existing fibre customers can switch to 80/20 then.

Hate to sound like a broken record, but I'll not be upgrading unless they discount that 30! On paper it's dearer than BT and that's all joe public will look at when ordering,I honestly think other posters here are totally right when they say sky were caught napping by BT's announcement, and this appears to be a knee jerk reaction to it which may cause more harm than good for their order book

Meh, BT can keep it! I'm more than happy to pay 30 for 80Mb!

Re: Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro Rumour

Sky are not silly and I don't think they will be pushed by BT about price.

If they price a product at 30 they can then do offers or discounts and still cover costs, but it they start it at 20 or 25 would they be able to do the same offers? At the moment on Paper yes BT is cheaper but give it 3-6 months and lets see how their network copes with everyone on 80/20 and if prices change. If they offer the same level service and maintain speeds then I will eat two bags of mini eggs.

Sky whilst more expensive are using that extra cash to further invest in its network to keep it unlimited and unshaped.

Re: Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro Rumour

I'm really not interested in 80/20, this might sound silly but that's "too fast" for me, its not essential for me and I have to think about my pocket. I'm absolutely fine with the standard fibre product from Sky.

What I am concerned about however with the addition of Sky Unlimited Fibre Pro, is this an early indication of potential Sky package changes in the future which could strip the unlimited usage tag from its 20 a month package? a bit like what BT Infinity are doing right now...

      E.g.

      Sky Broadband Fibre
      - Up to 40Mbps
      - 300GB Monthly Usage
      20.00 a month

      Sky Broadband Fibre Pro
      - Up to 80Mbps
      - Truly Unlimited Usage
      30.00 a month

I really would not want this to happen and would probably leave if thats the case

In your example above, Sky Broadband Fibre is actually advertised as Sky Fibre Unlimited

I cannot see Sky dumping the unlimited side of things. If anything the package you quote would possibly go to 40/10 and not 40/2 unless they release a new tier seperately.
