I wonder if the 1st May is the proper trigger point, as we were hinting at the other day.

I remember that you may have been the 1st to start that too.

      OK, I'll stop it.

We heard this morning that the 80/20 is for new sales etc and not for upgrades as such, no idea if true or not. One would assume that a new sale would be classed as a new customer, or as an existing LLU customer going to Fibre, again no concrete news though.

Its not a rumour its true. I called the fibre department to ask to upgrade and was told its for new customers only. Upgrades are from June as their system doesnt allow upgrades yet.

It depends how you interpret it.

Why would Sky turn away its own customers on LLU for the 80/20 product, when they could just as easily go to BT

A new customer could be from LLU to fibre in my eyes, as it is a new customer to the 'fibre product'.

Unless there is no mechanism in place for the change from LLU to 80/20 hence why June is being mentioned.

      It could be:

      A) Going to give a free upgrade to 40/10
      B) The connections at the moment are on discount from BTO on new connections

I think what we are seeing is teething problems like when they first pushed people on to SVBN and sky were not used to how the system worked or its not enabled at the moment to do certain actions. Back then Sky were offering better connections and speeds now they are behind. But that said, Sky are very commercial and adaptive they always do whats needed to make things work even if it means taking a little longer than normal.

They just need to remeber their own tag line, Belive In Better as their customers are now living by their words and want more and we want it cheap as chips.

Did they definitely state that it is new customers as in new customers that sign up to Sky?

I can fully understand that they cannot regrade the lines for those on Sky and on 40/2 but not that they would not offer 80/20 to those already with Sky LLU as it is probably no more work than getting those customers from LLU on to 40/2 logically.

      A) I am not sure if they would, logic says 'do it'
      B) If the connections are discounted, then it should really apply to everyone surely. The more they sign up the more that they save, and then make more profit on

People are going to get a little annoyed that it is purely for new customers, unless it is relaxed very soon.

Although saying that, I wonder how many people could actually be bothered to swap from Sky Line Rental to BT Line Rental (or any other ISPs name here) just to get the faster speeds rather than hold out another 6 weeks or so.
