re: Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro Rumour

If iirc some of the earlier Fibre installs, engineers were stating that it was capped to 40 for Sky - Maybe the work involved for Sky to start using the 80/20 is a case of either being uncapped at the cabinet, or the exchange or on someone's PC screen.
But then saying that, it goes back to Easynet's announcement yesterday. The 80/20 must be available, or they could not offer it.

Easynet were bought by Sky, then sold off back to a management buyout, and is now owned by Lloyds Development Capital.

Easynet have a long-term supply agreement with Sky, that gives Easynet exclusive access to the Sky LLU network.

So logically, Sky should already be able to offer all of the speeds that we are discussing anyway.

No I wasn't arguing - I meant that it makes sense that Sky have an "easy" option to get 80Mb out to the masses - the BT announcement probably took them by surprise, but still, never play all your cards

I spoke to 3 people from sky today

1st, said I need to call a specific fibre team and gave me a number, (which was the number i dialled), I hung up
2nd said, there is only one fibre package and that is 40/2, no other package exist
3rd one said, there is a pro 80/20 package but its not available to be as of yet, i then quizzed her and told her that bt are offering it, where she said my current 40/2 is the max that i can get at the moment.

I guess it depends who you get on the other end of the phone, I may try again tomorrow

Cancellations are fibre trained. It's them you'll need to call.

I've already tried, Sky says 31mb and BT is about 35mb, a lot of people have got completely different, and usually higher speeds though.

re: Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro Rumour

Just want to confirm that there is no technical work required by BT Openreach to upgrade customers to a full 17a profile and offer up to 80mb it is just software line regrade just a new config file takes 20seconds to do and is available to Sky to do now if they wished they did exactly that to 60 Sky staff lines this week . In fact come next week Sky will be in the minority have most users on 40/2 profile as majority of other fibre providers are regrading their customers lines to 40/10 to be level with BT. It does seem again Sky are getting left behind with an out of date product and the proposed upto 80mb seems expensive with again others dropping prices to compete with BT

All ISPs are vastly under estimating their line speeds, as per the recent Ofcom rules.

Have a look at our Speedtester and have a look at the speeds advertised as upto - They have dropped dramatically.

Sky User - Broadband Speed Tester

      o2 for example - down from 24 to 16
Sky for example - down from 20 to 14

They don't want to get caught out for breaking the rules.

      Sky will have no choice.

Packages will be as per Easynet, I would bet a 1000 on it.

      40/2
      40/10
      80/20
