The only thing this will achieve is, it will make peoples decisions a little more difficult now when choosing to stay with Sky or opt for BT. If that's the short term aim, that's fine. The thing is, people will see this and say, why pay more for Sky when I can get the same product cheaper elsewhere. Not everybody is clued up on the ins and outs of which supplier offers the best service. Most people just see pounds and pence. However. I'm sure in the long term, prices will come down and Sky will be beating the best offers on the table.

Personally, 80/20 not really important, max attainable on my line is 50ish, so wouldn't pay an extra 10 for another 10meg or so. I'm more interested to see if Sky will increase the upload on the 'standard' fiber product - not because I need more upload, and I don't think the full 10meg is avalable on my line either - it's just a 'nice to have', and if BT can do it.... :-)

Okay so it's 4 extra per month compared to BT, but it's only a 12 month contact. Line rental is cheaper with Sky, BT's customer service is appalling and u get free calls to sky on the sky talk package as standard,

So the question is are you prepared to pay a couple of extra quid per month for a far superior service or take you chance with BT (18 months is long time)

The thing is, your average person in the street doesn't no about BT's poor record. if they did they wouldn't be the market leader. Sky coming in with 80/20 at 30, in my opinion put's them on the back foot, when they should be trying to get as many new customers as they can. Other suppliers may look at Sky and say, well if there charging that, why can't we? It can put prices on the rise, when we all want them to come down.

Can't can't see anything about this anywhere. I've also checked a few addresses on the checker. It says nothing about the higher speeds even where high speeds are available from BT

Doesn't show up for me (assuming it is indeed live yet) but that is no surprise as I can't get BT Infinity 2 speeds either.

      True to a point.

However people are getting more savvy and are using sites like this and others before signing up to check reviews etc.

Also I would imagine that Sky will launch a massive campaign to get the man on the street onto their fibre product. Now they have removed the need to have a sky tv contract seems (to me at least) to signal this.

I rather fancy it will be a little while before they take orders on something unexpected as this....it is probably catching a lot of people at Sky out.
