At the bottom was a tracking number. Go to parcelforce.co.uk you can track from there. Mine says :-

I don't reckon kidnapping a bto engineer is a good idea. Would cause loads of problems down the line. Seriously though. How are you going to get an engineer to come early?

I'd have thought its probably a decision he couldn't make without his bosses say so to be honest. Could be wrong. I would presume that as soon as the modem is connected and your sky routers plugged in it would be automatically ready to go. The only problem would be your billing date would have to change because you've stated your subscription early.

I'd have thought you'd have to wait until the date tbh....

You could at the most blag him into coming at 8am sharp on the day though!

ahhhh, i see what you mean... i got an email too...

Not long to go now - you'll soon be up and running

We're glad to let you know your Sky Broadband Router has been shipped and should be with you in a couple of days.
But please don't try and set this up until after your Openreach engineer visit. Your broadband activation date was sent to you previously in a letter. Before you set up your router, think about where you are going to place it to get the best signal. If you choose to set up a wired connection, your computer will need to be located near your Sky router, the Openreach modem and power socket. If you prefer a wireless connection, locate your Sky router near your Openreach modem and power socket.

To get your Sky Broadband working, we've sent you:

      A Sky Broadband Wireless Router
Our Sky Broadband Install CD including a free trial of McAfee Security Suite
Your complete, easy-to-follow guide to setting up Sky Broadband
The equipment you need to set-up including any cabling.

We'll be in touch again soon, but you can always track your order at MySky with your username, password and Parcelforce tracking number, which is <Edited>.

and then I did what you say:

      i got this:

The sender has advised us that item <Edited> will be posted into the Royal Mail network on the 2012-04-19

      re: 1 more sleep...

Slightly off topic here but I live right outside the telegraph pole (not sure if this will make a difference on potential speed I'll get) but due to the crap weather we're having I've noticed a lot of the telegraph cables are coming loose. The other day one rather long bit of wire was just laying on my driveway which I assume was a neighbours connection to the house from the poll which came apart due to the result of the strong winds.

2 years ago the heavy wind and rain caused this to happen to me, my phone line still worked but was crackling bad and the internet wouldn't even stay stable for 30 seconds. I was with BT then for my phone rental so they came and replaced the wiring free of charge. I'm a little worried in case a repeat situation occurs within the next week, OK so it might be unlikely but its obviously happened to some neighbours of mine. If it was to happen would the BTO engineer have to replace the wiring?
