Was I fobbed off? BT have called 3 times offering infinity at 70meg!!
Be patient if you want to get SBUF. The exchange should hopefully be upgraded in May.

I can't be 100% sure though and I am going by what has been posted and sent in confidence.

Even if I need to go up to PlusNet's 120GB package (unlikely) it still works out a bit cheaper because their monthly line rental is about 3 less than Sky if you pay in advance.

I would happily come back to Sky in the future - never had a problem with their ADSL service.
I think its pretty much impossible to stay within a 40 GB usage limit on FTTC. Yes, its certainly possible with ADSL and even though you've pointed out that you never got close to the 10 GB cap on Sky Mid, I believe this can all be down to connection speed.

An example, lets say you want to browse YouTube and you click on a few videos. On ADSL you are usually able to watch a small piece of the video whilst the file is still loading and close it if its not for you. With a fast FTTC connection the video will more or less load completely within seconds so you would have already completely loaded that file regardless of being able to watch a bit of it. And this will likely be the situation when watching any streaming video.

The point being, there will be times when the connection is too fast for us to keep up with and will generally be much harder to control then standard ADSL.

For 24.99 per month you could have a 120GB allowance and phone from PlusNet. You also get to use you own router.

slight exaggeration :P I've have to scratch my ar** for a whole hour on 100mbps to get 40GB down.

Yours would be raw as it would take you about 2.5!

Ok, a bit of an exaggeration but 40gb per month is paltry.

I can't get Sky FTTC and I'd have to be very pushed to go back to BT. We don't need free daytime calls either.

Good point about streamed video though -hadn't thought of that. Is there some way to preview the first few minutes without downloading the whole lot?

      Plusnet is BT

I'm sorry I would rather use a mifi than use BT or Plusnet. Let's just be honest BT customer service sucks. At least with sky you know the will always try and resolve your issues and want to keep you as a customer.

Bt is like a supermarket stack it high sell it quick but then when your hooked they slowly change the quality of the product and put the price up and 18 months to regret it.

Quality over quantity should win every time.
