BT Openreach have confirmed in the last couple of days that our Exchange (LVNES) is now taking FTTC orders - although the BT Retail website is still saying by end of September. My cabinet has yet to be converted so it looks as though I'll be suffering cabinet envy for a while yet.

The Cwmbran exchange changed 2 weeks ago on the where and when site, from "not currently on rollout plan" to "Future Exchange", Now, this has made my heart jump "Yes, It's coming".......at the end of 2013.

Suppose I should be greatful, with the knowledge that it's coming...eventually.

Re: The Official 'I Can't Get Sky Fibre Yet' thread

This thread is interesting. After some trials and tribulations I'm moving my phone and O2 legacy broadband to Sky Broadband Unlimited. Due to go live in a few days (I had to switch the phone line over first, then wait another 10 days for the broadband to be activated for some reason).

Anyway, frustratingly Sky insist I can't get fibre, despite a big green cabinet being installed about 30m from my front door around 18 months ago. BTInfinity are forever sending me letters to get it, but Sky's checker says I can't. I'm on the Leamington Spa exchange and I'm sure some people on this site have it, judging by their sigs, but I'm in a black hole for some reason.

As a test last night, I tried various providers' checkers. BT says 78/20, Eclipse 40/10, Plusnet 40/10 so maybe Sky do have to install some kit at their end to make my particular cab live, and they're not just reselling the BT product.

The 12-month contract and unthrottled nature of SkyFibre really appeals!

Sky are currently using the FTTC kit and wiring which BTO operate between Telephone Exchange and your home. Once the connection is in the telephone exchange it is connected to Sky's equipment.

Whilst I don't have the specific details, it is with the link to Sky's kit or something around this area which need to be fixed.

Sadly it sounds like this is the current stumbling block which you have.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

SamKnows showing exchange has FTTC Status : RFS date set : 31/12/2013 which is today. Hoping that it doesn't now take a further 3 months for the cabinet(s) at end of street to be enabled. They were installed in September, when OR Where and When said exchange would be Accepting Orders. Does 3 months from RFS date seem right for us to get BT Infinity?

Re: The Official 'I Can't Get Sky Fibre Yet' thread

The dates are always posted to the nearest quarterly date (i.e. end of December, March, June or September). The actual date could be before this date.

In practise BTO have revised any estimated dates at the last moment when they can't be achieved.

Basically the best you can do is to know that BTO intends to get your cabinet live soon, but don't hold your breath. It could go live next week or there might be a variety of issues which need further work and will take the date to September 2015.

For now do as I did and check the news on your cabinet regularly.
