Less than 9 hours to go for SBUF to be available!!
Same line I got too. I've been quoted the exact same speeds as you and was worried that's all I can get. BT live chat is pretty useless unless your ordering form them. There not bothered otherwise.

Blimey. Where's the street cab? Australia?

BT (retail) upgraded their line checker last night when updating the products that can be ordered.

BT wholesale updated their checker the day before - when 80/20 became available to comms companies like Sky.

Both should now give the max speed for FTTC (upto 80/20)

      70.7Mb download
      20.0Mb upload

For me BT Checker - that's why Sky excites me bound to get the full hit 40/2 which will do for me :-) In fact I'd be happy with 25mb and up :-)

No, It's not in Australia. I believe It's on the moon somewhere, near the sea of tranquility. It showed this speed on the 40/10 bt checker since last month so I don't no what's going on.

I'm still happy at 34Mb down, currently I am on 468Kb being 7 Km from my exchange, so expecting a serious jump in performance. The fibre cabinet(s) are about 700 metres away

That makes sense. If you couldn't achieve approx. 38 when they started to use the new frequencies for FTTC, then there's no reason why you would get a faster connection on the 80/20 service.

All BT are doing with 80/20 is removing the artificial limit (40). This will only benefit those that would otherwise achieve the max when the 40 limit was in place.

Spot on. BTO VDSL2 products are all delivered over the 17a profile, which has a max throughput of 100mbps (Upstream + Downstream combined)

ISP's will choose which packages they make available, 40/2 upto 80/20, which can be changed with a few keystrokes. But the governing factor is what the Max Attainable Rate for any given line is, if your line is only capable of, for example, 50mbps, that's the Max you'll ever get on a 17a profile.

If and when the 30a profile is implemented, this will give a whole new set of line characteristics, and lines maybe capable of higher rates, as this profile has a max throughput of 200mbps.

Hmm, I may call the fibre team tomorrow and ask if they want me to trial the higher speeds if they don't get a general release 2moro
