      This I totally agree with you on.

      It seems childish as a consumer that when you swap between providers, a phone number must often be changed when you haven't moved home, or that when swapping between providers we still have to endure days without a broadband connection, for example.

      Yes it's all far too complicated, but tbb has just produced a nice little guide to migration:

      I believe that Sky could reduce the costs of all their services, considering they have a monopoly on almost everything now!
