The fact that BTO will allow people to cancel with no charge if a FTTC connection can not give the speed they said at sign up means that they will be a conservative speed estimate.

Connected yesterday at 39999 down and 1999 up, got the BTO guy to plug his gizmo in (which he didn't think would work) and it said my max attainable was 54 down (didn't tell me the upload or if he did, I wasn't listening - too busy thinking of the dl!) Checking the Bt wholesale checker today (using full address and postcode) still quotes 34 down and 6 up!
Excellent. I know the figures are conservative, they reckon 6Mb for ADSL Max (got 8), and get a sync of 15Mb at the moment on Sky LLU. The wholesale checker claims 52.1Mb as is, but I'm sure it'll be higher.

have you compared it with talktalks checker? Use your address not a phone number or those folks at talktalk call and call and call....

Yeah I did, used my neighbours address (so they can get the spam mail too)

Your estimated speed range is between 4.1 and 10.1meg

Interestingly, a friend who lives just down the road from me (but is connected to a different cabinet) is getting the doubled up speed when he looks on the BT checker (he is also got Infinity installed this morning) whereas I am still getting the 'old' speed.

You get a better result if you have a BT number that you can check than the postcode or address checker. On the checker my phone number is with sky so I can't check that, my postcode says nothing about fibre but my adress gives me a speed. Thats BT for ya!

If you want a guide of what speeds you maybe able to get, check the talktalk website, just use your address not phone number as they cold call

Or google your street and find a neighbour who has a telephone number listed online.

I've done that and found someone a few doors down who runs a football club.

      Winning.

Btw, I notice that BT have updated their 100mb product this afternoon. This morning it was 15 upload and this afternoon it is 19. I also noticed that this afternoon they updated an icon that was this morning still saying 'upto 38'.

There making this up as they go! Just like Sky.

Strange thing is I just saw a tv advert for BT BB which didn't even mention Fibre. Wierd!
