      I currently suffer a 3mb ADSL connection

BT Wholesale checker says my FTTC connection would be 54.2 Down 15.7 Up

BT also say its good to talk... but they make it really hard for you to get through to their call centres... Press 1 if you agree, Press 2 if you dont and Press 3 if you dont care!

Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed of 66.8Mbps and upstream line speed of 20Mbps.
That would be very, very nice. I'm practically throwing my money at Sky right now.

My speed is a little higher than you and I'm on for a max of 57.9 Down with someone eventually...

Virgin Media: 120mb - unless you go over their stated limits, in which case you'll be throttled back. Please note, VM are allowed to spy on your computers, it is in their T&Cs. Should you upload a lot, then they'll cap you again.

BT Infinity: 'up to' 80mb down and 20mb up, but during peak times we'll only guarantee 30mb download speeds, no matter what you were doing. We also have a history of using Phorm and snooping around networks to 'see if you are using an old PowerLine adaptor'.

Sky Broadband Unlimited Fibre: speed: unknown, but trials currently still on going but 40mb down and 2mb up for the public trials. However totally unlimited and no traffic management.

      Bring on Sky's announcement tomorrow.
Did I also read somewhere that the maximum guaranteed download speed on the leg between between the street cabinet and the premises is only 20Mbps (or was it 30Mbps)? My head is spinning with statistics and information about FTTC!

It was 30 for FTTC 80/20 and 15 for 40/2 and 40/10 connections
