Ahh ok, i thought id missed some info for a moment and SBUF was going to finally show up on Sky's product pages, i still find it strange that with less than a week to go till launch theres still no mention at all about SBUF apart from the inconspicuous link to the trial page.
Maybe Sky are worried about being inundated with orders and so are trying to keep it as low key as possible for the initial launch, frustrating tho when were eagerly awaiting the official product page to confirm 100% exactly what is going to be on offer

It's definitely going to happen soon, as the ad agency we use have already added the categories for SBUF

Let's hope the customer experience of the ordering process is smooth and robust, well designed and will stand up to the challenge of an onslaught of demand - something makes me think it will need to be so!

      Re: Sky fibre broadband

I think we may be over-estimating the demand for fibre. There is great enthusiasm in the forum, but that may not be the case throughout the country. There may be a few cabinets that are oversubscribed, but I think most will have plenty of space. It is possible Sky will not open up for orders, just like that, as TC used to say. They may work their way through the list of those who have expressed an interest and even then they may do it on an area or exchange basis. So don't be disappointed if the date comes and nothing appears to happen. Remember, good things come to those who wait.

I think the opposite, traffic alone to the Fibre section in the last 30 days has increased by 41.74% compared to the 30 days prior. That includes members and non members / people signed into the forums.

I think the demand will be positve, but last week I got the impression it would be a soft/slow launch. I agree with both of you though, I think alot of people are interested in SBUF but I also think alot will wait for full pricing and speeds. If they do launch with 40/2 then you will get sky customers jumping on it, if they launch a 40/10 I think it will get everyone jumping on it..

      Re: Sky fibre broadband

How much longer than 12 April should I give it for good things to come?

I've given Sky more than a year to come up with a fibre product whilst ignoring various other providers whose products have been available to my line during that time. I kept waiting for Sky because it always seemed to be just over the horizon. Not really keen to wait much longer!

I've got a Plan B in mind, but I'm hoping it won't come to that.

Also hoping that the launch and initial ordering won't be problematic for customers. When it was launched in 2006, I decided to hold off switching from PIPEX to Sky Broadband because I was put off by the initial chaos of demand and early teething problems. I switched about a year later in mid-2007. I won't be delaying a move to FTTC much longer - if it can't be Sky, it will be another provider (for both talk and broadband).

      There are various 'rumours' circulating.

As none of them have been confirmed and some proved to be Red Herrings, we haven't posted them.

Those things which have been confirmed have been posted.

Essentially it may be that Sky has tried to keep their last cards hidden by getting everyone to look elsewhere.

What I do believe from reading all the various stories is that Sky will launch on 12th April. There may be a delay in them launching faster speeds than the 40/2 that the triallists have been provided. These speeds will be introduced, perhaps over the summer months. Initially Sky will be supplying the Sagem 2504N with the Fibre firmware.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms
