      Would I take it?

Since I don't have Sky TV that would be a "no", the price puts me off too. Also I currently have a 13mb connection so I'm not as badly off as some people.

I expect that Sky will offer it without Sky TV eventually just like they did with the regular LLU package(s). Until then I guess I'm going to have to go against the flow.

It does sound nice. Not tempted enough though.

I don't think having TV is a necessity, only Sky Phone rental, with a minimum of Freetime.

Nah it wasn't clear if it was or not, early indications suggested it wasn't, but it's been recently added to Sky's broadband-without-TV page.

Still not buying it though. 20 a month? I'll pass, at least until the price comes down.

Since the infrastructure between your home and the FTTC cabinet is identical, you should get the same speed.

In practise the estimates are conservative and most people are able to get significantly more than what is stated.

On the SBUF product you should expect to get the full 40/2 as it would be capped to these speeds.

Since we've just mentioned Sky Fibre Pro (an 80/20 based product) you should be able to get the higher speed too with Sky. The price for this has been mentioned at 30 at the moment. This might be too high for a lot of people.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

I don't think they will drop the price anytime soon as the fibre is flying off the shelves so they wouldn't need to.

Well not flying off the shelves exactly becuase only a limited number of people can get it, but I think you are right the chances of sky lowering the price is unlikely due to the cost of BTO and running of their own network.
