The price is good value, and I would sacrifice my current landline provider to get fibre... however as I'm (probably) in the minority as I already have fibre, the upstream would have to be significantly improved for me to be tempted at the moment.

I don't download huge amounts and I never torrent, but I do have a household with multiple connected devices, and we do a lot of online streaming (mostly gaming) and 2 meg upload wouldn't cut it at the.moment.

Voted Yes, and received the call from Sky last night, I am due to be connected on the 20th March with estimated 40mb download and 2mb upload. I am currently receiving 4mb download and 0.6 upload with Sky ADSL, so with it being 10 times faster than my current connection it was a no brainer for me.

I think if Sky get a look at this poll they may be disinclined to give any perks for signing up. With over 80% ready to bite their hand off, they have no need to.

I got a call from sky offering me fibre optic at 20 a month with a 50 fitting fee and 35 for the new router. lol. i argued in my best victor meldrew voice and they withdrew the installation and router fee when i suggested i'd go to virgin...
fitted it a week later and blistering fast....Would you take Sky Fibre?-after.jpg

Re: Would you take Sky Fibre?

Well done on getting connected. Whilst in your case Sky Broadband Unlimited was poor as you had a long line, there are many others who do get good connections. The average connection speed is around 7.8mb.

With all these people being asked to pay 35 for a new router, I would politely ask for Sky to enable me to use my own router and to provide me with the full instructions to do so. Other ISPs do allow this.

      This is daylight robbery IMHO.

Agreed. I paid 35 for the new N router when it came out as the older one had poor wifi. The wireless N router arrived, its sync was lower and it find it much harder to keep the line connected - I know some think that for most the sky router is good and they should just have one... but make it a good router..or as Scubbie says let us use our own even if it means getting limited support. I have now gone back to my old sky router turned off the wifi and connected a better wireless N router to it. Saying all this the same router is used on fibre (different firmware) and so far I have not heard anyone complain about its performance. Would much prefer to use my own tho!!!

Re: Would you take Sky Fibre?

I would take it if the price was a bit lower. 20 seems to be too much more than 7.50

I am going to bite their hands off. I have registered interest and I currently get 19meg on Sky Unlimited. Can't wait to get this. Fingers crossed I can.
