      Re: Fibre cabinets

That checker will only work if you have a BT line /BT Connect or on a Partial LLU service (line rental to BT) so if anyone uses it and it come back with nothing thats the reason why it doesnt mean anything is wrong with your line. For those who do have a any BT services the speed estimate is helpful.

Line lenght is from the exchange not the cabinet

      Re: Fibre cabinets

I don't have any BT services at all (line rental with Sky) and it still works for me...

Attenuation is much higher than it estimates though (around 58 is what my router says).

      Data found:

      Exchange: Harrow

Recorded Line Length (from exchange): 3017m
      Estimated Attenuation (on ADSL): 42dB

You are connected to Cabinet 29 which is currently live and accepting orders for FTTC

Your speed estimate for fibre is:
      Downstream: 40Mbps
      Upstream: 10Mbps

Having read the post on TB, the person who has created this site is using third party websites to gain the information. They are using "Be" as well as "BT". If this is the case certain info may come via the post code or if the person is in an enabled area. The person who has created it says that the link is limited for those on LLU if it works at all

One thing to point out is that whilst the person who created the site is not keeping any data, the third party website may. I do not think "Be" use any of the data but should they use sites like talktalk to gain further info they do use data they collect and hammer you with call backs. Im not saying dont use the site, any info that we can get regarding FTTC is more than what BT would like us to have or give but would say be be aware of how the info is being obtained and how those sites/ISPs may use it.

      Re: Fibre cabinets

I have had fibre in my exchange for a while now yet it doesnt seem like my cab is going to be upgraded at all! I live on a brand new estate and thought surely they would give us a small fibre cab as our normal street cab is quite small, we only get 2.5mb adsl. Just wish they would role it out to every cab if the exchange is enabled

Sadly this is a common complaint. BTO appear to be initially only installing enough to cover around 30-40% of the population in any given exchange. After that they gradually expand the installations at a much slower rate.

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

Have you checked the PCP document to see if your bt cab is meant to be included in the current roll out plans for this year or if you would like to provide your post code i would be happy to take a look for you.
This document is by no means set in stone but can let you know if your cab was at least planned to be done when this document got leaked from BTO or if for some reason it was not included in the plans at this stage.
