      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

Please note: If you already have Sky Broadband Unlimited or Sky Broadband Home Lite, then you do have Sky’s LLU equipment in your local telephone exchange.
I think you have to have Sky's LLU equipment fully upgraded to use ISAMs, I don't think it works with the older DSLAMs. (I could be wrong as I sometimes are. )

Edit - Something seems to be going wrong with the new acronym thingy, I have noticed it in a few posts.

My route home from work means driving past my cabinet.

Today, there were BT Openreach vans, cabinet wide open and it was full of wires etc, so things are definitely happening woooooo

It seems openreach are picking up speed for their March deadline, 5 fibre cabinets all had power connected to them today in my area and two more cabinets popped up a few streets away.

What do you mean? Your exchange has a date for 1st June this year. Mine only says '2012'.

p.s. there are a few others that still don't have a date yet.

      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

As IsItMe has stated at present and for the future Sky fibre will only be available to customers that are connected to Sky's ISAMs so anybody who is still on the legacy DSLAMs will not get access to the service as technically not possible.

The only reason people should now be on DSLAMs is if they have voice with another company and Sky have asked all customers to move over to SVBN now, There will be a time I would say in next couple of years that people will be forced to move over or change broadband providers as the DSLAMs are now end of cycle and wont get replaced.

Although I have not heard anything official I think Sky may be leaning towards doing a soft product roll out in couple of weeks for any interested customers but with no press releases, fanfares or advertising just will be available to purchase over the phone if you enquire. This is based on that they now have another two technical teams trained on fibre support and that Openreach have been briefed to expect uplift in fibre installs from week comm 27/02 I maybe wrong just a hunch
