      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

Another bit of info I discovered today, for any Fibre hopefull's out there, who are unlucky enough to live very close to the exchange and/or their line comes directly from the exchange, without passing through a street cab, will not be able to get a FTTC connection.

This is already known. The only hope that those people who live next door to the exchange have is to get FTTP instead.

      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

Problem is the fibre team at Sky don't like the fact that the teams 'phone number is out there because the option to buy fibre is not an option yet and won't be until they release it. ATM they are choosing who, in different areas, to contact.
That way I assume they have control of a controlled test roll out so that they can see it is indeed ready for general release prior to advertising the fibre option for general purchase. At least that is how it is described to me. The fibre team is still very small in staff numbers and as training for them goes on that will change.
They will make contact. Easy for me to say I know as I am one of the lucky ones already connected. All will come good in the end.

      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

What you are saying is true.

The initial small group are testing the waters, ironing out any bugs in the ordering process and checking that all the eligible exchanges work.

The worse thing would be for Sky to have 200 customers waiting to be connected in a particular exchange, only to find that someone messed up and that it cannot host SBUF.

There is also the possibility that the product can be altered prior to launch. By this I do not mean to imply that there would be any limits placed upon it, but perhaps a price revision or change in speed or T&Cs.

      Re: Sky Fibre hopeful

As much as I want fibre, I would rather wait a few more weeks and make sure its all good to go (or as best it can be) as Scubbie said its best to have a longer testing period and slow roll out than a free for all and the whole thing fall over.. that said... if they want to come and connect me...
