That banking software Rapport is a nightmare! I took it of as it slowed everything down on my laptop

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Mine was only posted on Friday and the email notifying me had a Parcel Force tracking number, might be worth checking the despatch email to confirm you haven't missed delivery & the postman didn't leave a card

With the AV turned off the pings are the same on both machines (the mac is wireless @ 300Mbps) but the downspeed is slightly higher on the PC (wired). wired on the mac makes no difference is pings or speed.

As I have said, I only tried safe mode and turning AV off to see what would happen. I am more than happy with the speed of the connection, the pings and the quality of it since going active. with the AV running i lose about 1Mb and pings go up to 20-25ms but I used to have a 2.5Mb connection before fibre.

Also online gaming (Xbox) works better (no lag when playing the yanks in NHL) and the downloads now fly down

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Well, I had a call from Sky today... offering me Sky Fibre just like most of you here, free setup/install, 20 a month.

I've been hearing/reading whispers of a better router than the one currently given to pre-registered signups when Sky Fibre officially launches.

To be honest, the wireless on this sagem 2504 I think is not the greatest so I use the d-link instead. I was going to signup after a new router comes out so this puts me in a dilemna... do I wait hoping for a better router and signup after official launch, or sign up now and use the router that doesn't cover my house properly and is NOT gigabit.

Does anyone know if there will definately be a new router, one that is not using a modified existing router and is gigabit? fast ethernet with wireless g is what I have and I want gigabit with wireless n, not just fast ethernet with wireless n.
      Pics/info on possible new router?

There is no news about a new router being imminent, just that one is on it's way later this year.

Can you plug in another router e.g Apple Airport Extreme into the Sky Router, then disable the wireless on the sky router and use the Apple wireless instead? I realise this means using 3 boxes in total but is an idea that appeals to me.
