I was with a friend when she cancelled her BT Line & broadband in favour of Sky a couple of years back. She received half a dozen phone calls from BT trying to get her to change her mind. All but one were with the same lady from the UK, the only time she had ever had someone from the BT UK on the phone for many years.

      They eventually gave up.

Since being with Sky for phone & broadband she's been very happy.

      Hi all

Router arrived today, what i am wondering is it possible to transfer settings off the old netgear to the sagem, dont really want to do it all again.Im not that technical minded when it comes to routers so if possible can anyone point me in the right direction,Its only port forwarding for xbox and various games but its so tedious to do thanks

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

You could try to see if the Sagem will read the config file.

If it doesn't work one of two things will happed:

      • nothing
      • the Sagem becomes temporarily corrupted

If the later happens, just press the reset button at the rear for 10 seconds, whilst the router is switched on, and the Sagem will be reset.

Since it is just port forwarding that you are interested in, you may wish to make a note of which ones need forwarding and use the tool available on this site: Simple Port Forwarding | Simple Port Forwarding

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The Sagem 2504N that you have will work on both an ADSL and Fibre connection. It may not connect initially, but leave it connected for a little while and all should be fine.

I would suggest that you just connect the router with the ADSL lead, give it a few minutes to connect (my Sagem 2304n takes 2-3 minutes), then connect your computer.

something was going amiss on my desktop, the speed tests were low and pings were high, so i rebooted into safe mode with networking to limit windows resources and behold

      Check your firewall and AV.

Run Malwarebytes just in case you have picked up a 'nasty'.

Also check if you have banking software like Rapport - I needed to ditch this as it was the cause of a similar slowdown.

      Cheers

As i'm not very sure how to use the website on how to check whether I'll be able to receive Sky Fibre Obtic Broadband when it launches in Gateshead in March or April can anyone check my postcode to check if i'll be able to receive it when it launches. My postcode is NE10 0PJ. Many thanks.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

As I suspected, having just punched the postcode into the BT Infinity checker, you can't get it at the moment, so no results are available on the BT infinity checker.

Keep your eyes peeled locally and you may well find a new Green Street Cabinet appearing.

The official checkers will be updated when an exchange has been enabled. As any additional cabinets are added, they too will cause the checkers to be updated.
