I have a similar issue to you - master socket is an annoying location (and no power next to it either), while the router needs to be on a different floor. Will report back on what happens when it's installed on Monday.
Yeah, if you could get back to me on this. That would be great.

I just want sky to phone me now to get the ball rolling...

Got sky to send out an open reach engineer on saturday morning. I managed to get a ping of 800ms and speed of 0.5 meg tonight very briefly so that prompted call to sky. So helpful again.

Hi everybody. This is my first post. Just joined today but have been following the thread since it started. Found out FTTC is now avalible in my area. Thing is I for the life of me can't find the cabinet I'm hooked up to. Could one of you clever people find it for me. My post code is BD182EN. Many thanks.

Based on your post code and the PCP list from Dec 2011, your post code is served by two cabinets P21 & P61. The first cabinet is listed to supply fibre 43% of lines at your post code whilst the second one is listed to supply 56%.

The cabinets were phase 3 so they should be there, you will need to go on a cabinet hunt. Look for an old gree cabinet with 61 on the doors and a nice green one (normally much taller) near to it.

Thank you for your speedy response. It's another nice day so I will get my skates on and have a brisk walk around the block.

Have you checked the BT webpage to see if your telephone number can be connected to fibre? And if so what speeds?

Per Google street view there's a couple of green cabs very close to that post code. One at the junction of Owlet Road & Hollin Road here. The second is the other side of the post code on the corner of Owlet Road and Fair Bank here. If you live where Google put the pin then you should be able to see the second of those from your windows!

Just yesterday it said we are ready to go in our area. Speed check said I could get upto 35mbs down 6mbs up which I would be over the moon with. We do alot of streaming and gaming in our house so improved bandwidth would be great. Everything in the house seems to be connected online, with WII's upstairs and PS3's downstairs.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

An estimate of <40MB would suggest that neither of those are your cab - especially if they haven't got their fibre twin.
