      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I saw a BTO van enter my street today and when I got home I received an email from Cable.co.uk stating Sky Broadband is now available in my area.

Is this the new Fibre Service?

Possibly, but that website is a commision based site, so are purely trying to get you to sign up to Sky via them so they make money.

How on earth though they can sign you up to a service that doesn't exist in reality is beyond me.

Once Sky Fibre is launched, you can just sign up via Sky, I am pretty sure that they will have a checker of some sorts for your phone number, or if you have registered your interest, then you may get a call off Sky anyway?
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Check that the server you are connecting to isn't congested.

Yes, I suppose I'm what you might call an 'early adopter' for this neck of the woods. Connection has been stable for pretty much the whole time, despite attempts by Western Power to scupper the stats!! ;-)

      Cheers

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Received letter today from sky regarding fibre install details , on it it says estimated download speed of 40.9 mb . I remember andrewjr saying his was between 74 and 40.9 mb,Does anyone know if this is now just a standard estimate speed sent to everyone to stop people thinking they could have more or is that likely to be my max speed obtained from my line, i dont know how far away cab is but i recall before bt changed estimate to 40/10 that it was 35.5/8
i know it doesnt matter at the minute as sky product is only 40/2 and i wont be disappointed with that speed after struggling with just over 1mb but would like to think could have faster in future any body any idea thanks

      Mine says 40.9 too.
I'd say that's what they're telling people with lines that can handle the full 40mb/s
