as already mentioned sky are using 80meg vdsl and are capping it at 40meg at the moment. This should mean that in most built up areas sky will.be able to provide 40meg everywhere. I recieved a letter from sky stating that my line max is 74meg.

Thats not strictly true, Sky are using the BTO fibre network that just happens to be running a 17a profile. VDSL2 at 17a is capable of a stable 100Mbit what all the ISPs do with it is there choice. I know someone on the 17a profile who is only getting 8Mbit due to the ammount of copper to the cab so if someone is "only" getting 34Mbit now thats all they will ever get until the 30a profile is implemented.

Morgee, when were you set up with fibre?

I'd be interested to see if after the 2nd day your ping increases as mine did.

Its still sat at 19ms, better than it was but still not as good as the 10ms it was.

I'm just curious if this is because of errors or natural set up.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The graph on page 5 appears a lot more optimistic than that graph.
Are you sure? The graphs figures are in metres, the PDf's is feet.

      I think so...

Scubbies graph shows 30mbps at 300 meters, that is roughly 1000 feet, in the pdf it is showing 90mbps at 1000 feet. At 600 meters it is showing 22 mbps and in the pdf 80+ for 2000 feet.

Having said that though, as to which graph is correct i can't say

I was set up on Monday morning. 5-03-12
Ping seems to be fluctuating up and down between 12 and 14 so fairly stable.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I really can't wait for this upgrade. My internet is so bad it's a joke. My line has been said to have been enabled with FTTC technology; but I can't get it right now.

Really hoping I can get some sort of upgrade soon before I rip my hair out.
