That would be a great idea, and a real backstab at BT

Still unsure as to complain to the ASA or not re the 4 times faster than Sky adverts, as that is blatantly not true.

It needs someone with Sky Fibre to ask how its 4x faster than their sky connection?

Not really, I can provide documentary evidence that unless BT give everyone who signs up to BT 100 meg connections it is definitely not 4 times faster.

Sky Fibre speed test results so far show that the average connection on Sky Fibre products, is 27359.80 Kbs - So the only real way BT could possibly advertise it as 4 times faster, is if they compare like for like products. And not use the Inifinity range in their advertising. It is blatantly untrue.

      LOL!

I set up my router before the engineer came, had it all waiting before.

All really anyone needs to know is that the BTO Modem (white) needs to go into the (grey) sky router's 1st LAN port.

Other than that it was simples

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

In addition, the BTO Engineer also needs to know how to connect the Fibre cable to Sky's LLU Equipment in the telephone exchange.

Everything in between should be much the same for any other FTTC connection.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

      Router received today.
Nothing out of the ordinary to report. Running the same F/W and dsl F/W as the OP.

I've used the Username/Password Generator but will have to wait until I go live on friday to test and see if it generated the correct credentials.

Incidentally, I also tired the alternative method of backing up the config file. I opened the file in Wordpad but was unable to find any reference to "@skydsl" whatsoever. A little odd?

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I think BT are OK with their advert at the moment. Sky are only running trials and fibre, as we all know, is only available to the select few. When Sky officially launch the Fibre Product, BT will have to withdraw the advert, or if Sky only offer 40 Mb, change it to 'twice as fast as Sky'.

Good . Since you already have a Sky connection, you could use a non-Sky router to check the log in details if you wanted to be sure that you have the correct details.

The log in details are not saved to the config file for a Sky router. They are kept in an area that is not wiped when the router is reset.

      PlusNet Fibre since Jan 2021
Previously Sky Fibre & Sky BB since 2010.

Fear not, i'll be giving that a go. Although i've family obligations tonight, I'll get shot if i'm caught sloping off to "Faff around with that bl**dy internet, again"

As for the config file method. Thanks for clearing that up Scubby. I was sure I read a post somewhere saying it was possible to retrieve the info from there. Anyway, Lives 'n learns.
