It has been established that there are two current firmwares for the Sagem 2504N. One is for ADSL only, the other is intended for SBUF, but also works with an ADSL connection. All the other Sky routers currently available won't work on SBUF.

I would have thought that it would be simple enough for Sky to change the firmware remotely if someone is upgrading from ADSL to SBUF, but so far no one has confirmed this.

I'm due to be activated next friday (9th).

Roughly when do they send the router out? I'm sat here with a couple of Netgears 3300 & 3700, desperately waiting to tinker!!

You know what, the more I read on here, the more I am convinced, Sky are going to offer free connection to Fibre and a free router, when they actually release the fibre to the masses.

Look at the hit that Sky take on HD

A HD box must cost a couple of hundred quid to produce, it must cost about 35 - 60 for install, and then if they offer M&S vouchers, currently 75 per friend and the introducer, that equals 410 per new customer.

Say the average package is 30.25 x 12 = 363.00 income the first year.

410.00 - 363.00 = a loss to Sky of 47 in the first year, and then a profit of 316.00 in the second year. And so on.

If you sign upto Sky TV then you are hardly likely to cancel after year 1 unless you have huge issues, or just cannot afford it. I bet they are playing the same game with fibre.

      20.00 x 12 = 240 - Cost of router 35.00 - Cost of connection 50.00 = Approx profit of 155.00 in year one

      240 profit year 2

So year 1 and year 2 = 395.00 profit per customer (x 3 million customers) = Shed loads of profit.

Sky are just playing with the opposition at the moment, making them think that they are ahead, and so that they don't know what will hit them in April.
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

I love my time capsule. I have the second Newest gen so relatively problem free and great performance. The extreme has been and is a brilliant router.

I have to agree with you I have both TC and Extremes. Easy to use and problem free. I just hope we can configure the PPoE to work with the openreach modem..

Go on treat yourself AE's are great but they do get very warm. You can get a clear bracket that holds it away from the wall or allows it to be mounter under a desk or table that allows air around it.. and if you even sadder like me you can get an led light that plugs into the usb on it that makes it look like it has a halo around it lol

It appears that the router should arrive by Wednesday. Extract the log in details ASAP and also the WAN MAC Address, just in case.

I'm looking forward to hear from you to confirm that the DGND3700 works.
