    Sky Fibre connection

This is a discussion on Sky Fibre connection within the Sky Broadband (Fibre) Help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I'm sure they have tried to contact me twice this week.... do they call you evenings? Can't see the point ...

Ah if only it was my hubby wanting it that badly and not me. I might have tried the same tactic!

Well they rang me at work on my mobile, but there was a missed call on my home phone from earlier. No message left. They rang at about 3pm.

I got the phone call last week and all booked in for Monday 5th. At the moment we only get 4mb so it’s quite difficult when you have a few devices connected all fighting for bandwidth. Sky says that I should receive the full 40mb so it should make a huge difference to us. Just hope I can use my own cable router with it!

Your not the only one! I'm still jealous that my friend who lives about 2 minutes away from me and also applied for the trial a while after me has had 3 phonecalls from the fibre team and now has an install date!

I don't suppose you happen to have a cable router you can try once your connected?
haha, I won't be using the sky supplied router that's for sure.

I currently use a Billion 7800n on sky unlimited and I'll be putting the RJ45 WAN port to use.

Has no one tried an alternative router yet?

The selection criteria for calls does seem rather random (and frustrating!).

Nope, Im still waiting for someone to make my day and tell me PPoE works just fine....

I have Draytek too. I was rather disappointed with the last update to sky routers. Sure it has better wifi but after all this time if they want to play with the big boys and offer a service such as fibre that can give great speeds then it seems silly not to offer a premium router or at least the option to supply your own. I know that people say its because they do not support other types but people who want to use a better modem/router tend to be educated on fault finding.
