You've no idea how much I wanted to. When I was paying 14.50 a month to O2 I might have managed to justify the extra, but at the moment I'm getting 6 months free and then 7.50 which is a huge jump when you haven't got it. I'll just have to go and get a better paid job!

      20 for 40Mb is a bloody bargain!

      I remember a time when I paid 39.99 for 1Mb Pipex ADSL...

I agree, the price is good - however, when things are tight, having to wait a few less minutes (or even hours) for something to download is a luxury you can manage without. It all depends on disposable income, what you currently do with your connection, what you anticipate being able to do with it, and whether you can justify the additional cost. 10 can buy you a weeks worth of meals, if you're on a budget.

I'm not going to go into my households disposable income, but I value how fast my broadband is

6 years I somehow managed dial up... first got on in April of 1997. Got Pipex 1Mb in 2003.

It is when you compare bt to sky as sky offer fibre and line rental for the price of infinity

Me too, compared to when we first got the internet. And I'm sure when I get fibre, I'll value it even more. My point was that some people have different priorities. Some are forced out of necessity to have different priorities. Fast broadband, for most people, is a luxury that, if it came down to it, they could do without - if it meant a choice between streaming movies or eating, for example I'm not saying that is the case here .. just an extreme example to make my point

      ^^ Totally agree with Stumpy.

Some people just cannot afford simple luxuries. It's a sign of the times.
