They can deliver your router and install your fibre at my place if you like.....

I would call them, otherwise you will nails left from the worry!!!!

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

OK update time. Be patient with me because im not up with all the tech !

Had fibre installed on 28th, I was at work ( like I am now ), wasn't sure exactly what cabinet was being connected to because 'new' cabs seemed a bit away - got wife to ask and yes ours is about 700m !!!

First off Installation - we have master socket by front door & 2 'hard-wired' extensions i.e when house built approx 4 yrs ago. I had call from wife to say engineer had been to house and just popped back to cabinet to connect up. To my surprise, he had installed modem / new socket faceplate etc in lounge 'extension' behind the tv. I was a bit concerned and asked if he could call me when back at house. He did, and was really friendly / helpful and said no problem with using this socket because it was wired direct from master and was 'full size' whatever that means ?

He said didnt know anything about sky and their fibre & hadn't had any briefing/training with sky router.
Anyway all connected up OK and getting 32 down & 1.6 up - I'm thinking ok considering distance from cab ( althrough reading post I will try wired test tonight ) What do you think about the install / speeds etc ?

But don't I have to have the router prior to the engineer arriving to carry out the install?

The BTO can still connect the fibre without the need for the router.. just means you won't be able to use it until it arrives... when it arrives just plug it in!

Would you believe it, the Sky router just arrived!
For information of others, whilst Sky told me the router needed signing for. I did not need to sign for it and indeed the postage label on the outside of the package is very clearly marked "No Signature"

      Roll on Monday!!

If anyone is in the Portsmouth area and has SBUF, please feel free to PM me if you don't have a non-Sky cable router to experiment with.

I have two Cable routers to play with.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I've just this minute had a call from the Sky Fibre team after I registered my interest a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, much as I would love to take them up on it I can't justify the extra expense at the moment. Would have loved to though When finances are better I will definitely get it.

Bah, I am patiently waiting for the call... I'm ready to snap their arms off for it.
