I'm soooo jealous of Andrewjr. Living in Basingstoke we have had BT Infinity since the start, in May 2010, but I just hate BT so much, I could not bring myself to order Infinity. My next door neighbour receives 38Mb download while I get on average 460Kb!! I have been hoping every since May10 that Sky would launch a fibre service. Now they have, I gutted. The BT infinity checker has for the past 3 weeks says Infinity is not available until the 29th Feb. Are they full? Are they upgrading? Just when I want the Sky fibre team to call and offer me the trial BT put a stop to it. Argghhh!!! Guess I will have to wait a few more weeks before I get that call. I have everything else Sky. Skytalk, line rental HD, sports packages etc.
      Hi

I would suggest, that you wait until sky launch their fibre and see if it allows you to order. Just because the people next door can get fibre this doesnt mean you can or indeed that you are connected to the same fibre cabinet, BT have also been tinkering with their checkers recently. If you would like to give us your post code someone on the forums can check what cabinet you are connected to based on data from the end of last year.I think most people would like to get on the trial but its only being offered to small groups of people from what we hear. Until then keep the faith... Sky fibre is almost here!

Its frustrating waiting for those nice green cabinets to show up... keep an eye on Elgin website for any reported works on the area where the cabinet will go and on your local planning website. In most cases from what I have seen and heard the cabinets do not often need planning and can just show.

Fingers crossed your cabinet shows soon!

No you can't get it unfortunately. The exchange needs Sky's kit in it so the FTTC connection can connect to their backhaul.

      No.

According to SamKnows, your exchange does not have Sky's LLU equipment installed at this moment. Unfortunately SBUF is only available where both FTTC & Sky's LLU equipment are both available.

Sky may launch a product in April or some later date for those exchanges where FTTC is available, but their equipment is not, but we have no information on this at the present moment.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I see BT have launched a new package no doubt aimed at potential sky customers 18 for 40/2 package with a 40GB usage (7.50 half price for 3 months) I think they have gone for price point rather than like for like package

Oh free connection and 50 sainsburys card.

I did not relaize that BT managed their lines so much, the wiki page about FTTC says they even slow down Mac OSX updates...now that is desperate

BT will have to change their advertising soon, as they are no longer 4 times faster than Sky, think a complaint is in order to the ASA

Surely there is no harm done by a little Mac bashing
