Yes, because a router connects to the BT modem through PPoE, so as long as you have the Sky login details you will be able to use it.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Of course someone will need to verify whether or not you can use a non-Sky router, but it looks promising.

As for people contacting Sky at the moment about this product, if you have better luck than me, well done. So far I've been sent a standard email advising me that it is being trialled only by staff for the rest of 2011, i have also been given an expected connection speed of up to 20Mb/s by someone else.

Basically, most do not have any knowledge of the product. I would suggest that we hold back from chasing them until someone has confirmed that Sky are rolling out the training.

With regards to the BTO Modem, there are many questions that will need to be answered, but in compiling the FAQ there is a great deal of knowledge that I am beginning to unveil. I am sure that much of it will become discussed once people start getting their FTTC connections, but for now what I will say is that they look promising.

when i was contacted by Sky they only had a very small department that are dealing with the fibre broadband, the rep that contacted me knew what he was talking about but he was the only rep on the team that had been calling people that pre-registered.

Unfortunately I didn't ask for a number that goes directly to this team. They will call me back after a few days when it is installed, i will ask for their number if it already hasn't been found by then

I doubt if they will want that number to be posted in a public forum though

      probably not no.

as soon as my router arrives i will hook it up to a pc and set it up, i will post all the info i can including pics. same applies for the modem when it gets installed.

is there anything people want me to ask the BTO engineer when he turns up on the 17th?
