      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The first Sky (Customers) have been connected up to fibre broadband today I am informed and that they are at present offering to around 100 customers a week from the pre registration site and is only being offered to customers where the exchange is already fibre enabled,Sky's ISAMs have been upgraded and in an area where Openreach lead times are reasonable so can get feedback before full launch in mid April as some fibre installs can not be done until May in certain areas as Openreach are so busy or limited engineer resources.

Dont forget that it is not just a case of getting it installed they want to know how the core network copes in various areas so no point having all initial customers in London or Manchester so will be spread around the country also there are only limited amount of technical support staff trained so call will get routed straight to them once fibre flag is added to the account

Damn what a mistake but my worry was that if I accepted and then came here and found the consensus of opinion was that it was full of problems.......................................... ...oh well, live and learn. Just have to hope now!
im sure they will call you back, when i spoke to them they only had 1 guy making the phone calls to pre-registered customers. i asked him to call me back in 20 mins when he first contact me as i had to check that i was out of contract with Virgin and pretty much bang on 20 mins i received the call back so just be patient.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

are there any questions that people would like me to ask the BTO engineer when he/she arrives on friday?

also here is some possible new info on the router: under advanced > wan setup you have 'Router Mode' with a drop box which contains Auto, ADSL Only & WANoE Only. When WANoE Only is selected you are presented with a picture of the back of the router showing you which port to connect up to the BTO Modem.

Yeah, that's standard, I haven't changed it. Same username and password as the other routers.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

For those lucky few to be offered Sky Fibre, it may be helpful if you can post

If you were already a sky broadband customer
How long is the lead time to your connection date
What speeds were offered/ and once connected you achieve
If you know, how far away is your Fibre Cabinet

It will be interesting to see how connections differ based on location

Questions Questions Questions... I know but are the chosen ones and it may save you having everyone asking the same thing..

      Thanks in advance!

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The router that has been supplied to andrewjr is the Sagem 2504N with a different version of the firmware than what has been shipped to ADSL customers.

      Specs for this router essentially:

      100Mb/s LAN
4 LAN Ports (one will be used to connect to the BTO Modem)
      WiFi n (144Mb/s over a single channel)
      WPS button.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

if you dont mind sharing your post code then i dont mind helping try locate where your PCP cab is for you, gives me something to do while i wait for BTO to start doing fiber cabs round my way

or if you already know the PCP number that you connect to that would do as you already stated what exchange
