      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Although you should have been told to expect the upgrade in 3 days or so, in practise the upgrade to SFUP normally happens overnight.

You will need to power cycle your router tomorrow morning for is to show the new connection speed, otherwise there should be nothing else for you to do.

As for the pings, hopefully these won't change significantly. Of course an improvement is always nice, but if you end up getting interleaving on your connection, the ping will degrade a little.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

thats weird scubbie, because when i ask to upgrade to SFUP on the phone they told me 7/8 days for upgrade, then in the morning i power cycled my router, it then got the 76/20 upgrade, it was working there and then...

now I get 9 - 10mb/s at best on big steam game downloads, when things are not busy...when busy it goes down to 4 - 8mb/s. uploads are 7 - 8mb/s although im uploading to an ftp server thats based in the eastern US.

2 weeks later, after upgrade, i got a sky letter welcoming me to my new SFUP package...

my ping is good btw, mostly 16 - 20 ping...

need to se about getting the SR102 hub, as currently have the 2504n connected to the BTO fibre modem(does it really matter tho?)...how much is it currently from sky website, if its too much, ill look on ebay maybe...

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Is it just Steam which is slow and is it at all times of the day or just peak times?

Don't forget that the link between the UK and the USA will not be as quick as say the link to the BBC site.

As for changine the router, I don't see how you would benefit in terms of the connection speed. It is the BTO Modem which determines this, not the Sky router in your current case. When the Sky Hub SR102 is launched I suspect you could purchase it but based on what you have, the onle benefit would be to lose the BTO Modem.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

during the day steam is good & fast...its normally around the 10 - 11pm time when it gets a bit busy...

lol ye..less clutter underneath my cupboard, then, 1 built-in router/modem, instead of a router + BTO fibre modem...i would probably still use the 2504n router for ethernet access...smart tvs & bluray players...

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The Sky Hub SR101 runs quite cool. I believe that the SR102 would be similar.

On a serious note though, I trust that the BTO Modem has lots of room to allow it to air naturally. An older model was withdrawen as it was linked to causing fires in the home.

      Sky Fibre connection

No not rich, just put money aside and traded in games over the last few months.

No it's not as powerful as the PS4 but then neither was the Xbox 360. It all comes down to the games, gameplay and the controller. (Has ps3 and ps4 controllers).

Back on the topic of the upgrade I am going to be up anyway so will log into the modem and just keep an eye on the sync status. Just hope it don't go during my xbox one update

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

I would hold off that update until the update has gone through (they are always at night/early hours of the morning).

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

scubbie & alexjr, true, about about the update going through in early hours of morning, mine got updated around 2:00 - 3:00am...

after 3 am i power cycled my router, then i got the 79999/20000, strange after a while a month into the update the router status has changed to 79999/19999...but no speed change.

bf4 should be available for the xbox360...im sure of it...my pc cant handle the pc version(even crashes)..even with the lowest gfx settings...i have a geforce a 2gb gt640 video card, its a pci3.0 card running on a pci2.0 motherboard.
