      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Posted by me yesterday (post #95)

Sky 'phoned me yesterday to inform me (having pre registered an interest) that I may now upgrade to the new fibre unlimited BB.
Told them I would want to do some research first, so came here, and they will, apparently call me back in a few days to see if I want to go ahead with the upgrade.
Having read this thread and done the BT Infinity test (Reckon I can get 40Mb Down and 10Mb up) I think I will go ahead with this as the speed is worth the extra 10.00pm to me.
ATM I get a max of 14Mb down and about 54kb up so the extra speed promised for 10.00 sounds good to me.
I wonder if they will call me back though!

It appears that I may have dropped a huge lobbock!
Having done my 'research' on here and decided that I have to have this deal I tried today to contact sky in order to accept their offer of 20.00pm for fibre. The guy I spoke to has no idea what I am talking about and even stated that I am talking about a product he knows nothing about as we aren't even offering that yet!............................great!!
I asked if he could refer me to whoever 'phoned me yesterday to make the offer to which he replied that it would be an "outbound" only who don't take calls back and that offers made by that department (whoever they are) should be accepted at time of offer. So the lobbock I dropped is in not accepting the offer as it was made on the 'phone.
My worry now of course is that I won't be contacted back and have lost my 'place in the queue'.

      Damn it!

If anybody has details of who I can contact to accept the offer please PLEASE let me know.
I have to have it !!

must admit when i read your first post the first thought that came to mind was "OOPS"
Sky are not officially launching the fiber product untill April and most of the sales team wont have much if any idea about it yet, i guess its kind of going through a beta stage at present and seems the only way to get it pre-launch is via the invitation from a small specific team that are dealing with fiber, i fear your only hope now is to pray the guy does call again in couple days as he stated or you will have to wait for the lanch in April

That is my fear also. Which is why I am hoping someone during their dealings with sky on this subject will get a 'phone number and PM it to me so I can get back to them.
Damn what a mistake but my worry was that if I accepted and then came here and found the consensus of opinion was that it was full of problems.......................................... ...oh well, live and learn. Just have to hope now!

At least you have a cabinet nearby with FTTC available. My exchange still hasn't been upgraded. I am both happy that people are getting the SBUF package and extremely jealous at the same time.

@morgee: They will call you back, don't panic.

Oh I do hope so. Having thought about it I wished now that I had simply accepted the offer and then researched. Not often I say that lol.

      Hmmm... She could be right

Why don't you set up an IP Camera instead? You could set it to alert you every time there is any movement near the cabinet and save all the walking.

Belstead exchange does have "some" new cabinets. BTO have been doing work on Belstead Road... been making them cups of tea and getting the gossip lol They said that are back (BTO, Telnet and the power company) from the 20th.
