      Re: Sky Fibre connection

Having my Fibre optic avtivated on this Friday (26th) , my new router arrived yesterday its a Sagem phrase 3 fibre router, i am guessing this is just a standard router and the wireless will be a useless as my Sagem router which i am using at the moment for my standard sky broadband.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

The Sagem 2504 router was a WiFi g router. The new routers are WiFi n.

I guess if this improvement is useless to you, then there won't be much improvement.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

@iMacMart: I know it sounds a little petty, but actually it is an important difference to quote 144mbps instead of 150mbps.

Many Laptops and Netbooks on sale at the moment will connect at up to 150mbps when they are using a router which uses paired channels. This is only half the possible speed (300mbps) for a paired channel arrangement.

The same laptops and netbooks will connect at no more than 72mbps to the Sky Hub SR101 as it uses a single channel.

The maximum speed of a single channel is 144mbps.

Hopefully by quoting these speeds members who read this forum will understand why their routers are quoted at one speed, but they only get another. It is also a reason why we suggest getting an adaptor which supports 300mbps, not 150mbps, whenever possible.

      Re: Sky Fibre connection

after 21 months of Sky Fibre Unlimited I have today taken the plunge and upgraded to Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro. Despite all my attempts they wouldn't give me a deal on it so I dumped Sky Sports (haven't been watching it anyway).

Going to need the extra speed to get the bigger Xbox One game downloads (picking it up tonight.....).

Haven't got an activation date, it will come out in the post I was told but mysky is showing that my current standard SF will cease today, so hopefully my modem will just re-sync with the higher 80/20 profile (and i hope that my pings don't change)

      LOL! OMG Xbox One, really?

why xbox one?? got the money matey? 469? if so your rich atm...

need some website review URLs on the xbox one, as i own an xbox360 and want to know how good the new xbox one is compared to the older xbox360 console...i seen and watched all the announcements a few months ago...PS4 is due out on 29th...they say the xbox one isn't as powerful as the PS4...at least you get a bluray drive on xbox one eh?

I'm already on the pro, and its going well...latency is between 16 & 20, going through the thinkbroadband monitor, and it no red lines(YET!). but the extra 10 a month, grrr...i now pay 114 a month with sky...
