A word of warning (using your own router and consequences)

This is a discussion on A word of warning (using your own router and consequences) within the Sky Broadband feedback forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I'd personally take what the advisor said with a pinch of salt. Suspended over billing, botnet zombie or simply mistakenly ...

I'd personally take what the advisor said with a pinch of salt. Suspended over billing, botnet zombie or simply mistakenly is more likely. I've never seen anyones' mac address suspended for simply using a third party router, unless they have just started doing this as mentioned.

Edit: In fairness, the advisor didn't have to unsuspend your mac address. I know many that wouldn't unsuspend it.

Topic to watch this one me thinks.........

phew just checked in my routers interface (billion 7402nx)

Just changing encapsulation to PPPoE in WAN setup, opens up a new box called "MAC Spoofing" in where you just input the desired MAC address....

      Should be good to go

I think User05 probably hit the nail on the head, as its now 2 weeks since DK started this thread, and I haven't seen another post by a sky customer on this or any of the other forums I've checked reporting that they've been cut-off for using their own router. So quite honestly I wouldn't worry about it.
