      Broadband connection problems

      Hi all

I have been reading some of the problems people have been having with their Sky broadband losing connection. I thought I would share with you my problem and how I fixed it...
For about 3 weeks I have had the internet go off at about 11.00 am every day for about 3 hours. The internet would disconnect, then reconnect and go off again every 5 minutes or so. I rang Sky (about 6 times altogether) and went through all the usual rigmarole.
If I plugged the modem into the test socket on the BT line it would work fine. Sky told me that there was something wrong with my master socket so I rang BT who told me that it couldn't be the master socket as the problem wasn't intermittant i.e. it was going off the same time every day.
I was at my wits end as Sky were blaming BT and vice versa. It was only a chance conversation with a friend that solved the problem - It was my Sky TV Box. Once I unplugged the phone line on it, it was fine. Just to make sure I plugged it back in and low and behold, after 3 minutes the internet went off!
I'm guessing sky are sending signals of something to my box. Why they didn't know that I don't know.
All I'm waiting for now is for Sky to write and moan at me cos my box isn't connected - hey ho!

I hope this helps some of you who are experiencing a similar problem.
Let me know if it works for you!

all items connected to the socket need to be filtered, was the sky box put in before the filter ?

Aye, T1 will ask you what is on the line, if you fail to mention the sky tv box they won't know, did you tell them it was there? All you have to do is get it filtered, basicall the first thing on socket must be a filter, you can then plug the sky tv adaptor into the tel side of the filter and any telephone equipment into that.
