      Broadband speed troubles

Hi I've seen a couple threads on here about speeds people should be achieving, and I dont know enough about line attenuation and noise margin to determine it myself. so im asking for a little advice. hopefully my picture has uploaded with the post. and from it you should be able to see my stats when plugged in normally and when plugged into the test socket.

I'm asking mainly down to the fact i belive my broadband speeds has nearly halved since my family came back off holiday. and its rather unpleasant not being able to watch a low quality video on youtube without having to wait for it to load. im roughly below 2 miles from the exchange if that makes a difference

      thanks

Your noise margin jumps in the test socket, have you got extensions on the line and if so are they in use?

by extensions, do you mean other sockets throughout the house? if so yes i do and i believe they are in use. now all the ones in use should have filters on them. however my mother played around with one the other day so i will go check that one now

right just checked and they all have filters on.

      Re: Broadband speed troubles

ok so saw that my socket still had the bell wire intact so ive removed that and the line seems to be more constant at these statistics. is my speed reflected by the noise / line attenuation or should i expect better down and upload speeds?

You should be able to sneak a bit more speed from the line if those noise margins stay stable.

Call Sky and ask them if they can reconfigure your line speeds as you have made improvements to your wiring. You would be better, buying fitting and using a filtered faceplate, for the best results.
