It has not been helped by the marketing department either.

By pushing hard with adverts creates desire and when that desire is then refused causes aggro.

If Sky had even suspected that this would happen then a very quiet soft launch should have been the order of the day.

Heck you could have rolled it out and said that people who had it were in the final stages of testing then launched when you had all the boxes updated.

There were so many better ways of handling this.

Unfortunately it looks like it will be MUCH longer.

I've just read this on the official Sky Help Forum:

As you may be aware, we’ve been gradually making the Sky Anytime+ service available in phases to ensure each of our customers receives the best possible experience. The approach we have taken is according to the Sky+HD box model. The first models to receive the service were the Amstrad DRX 890, 895, Samsung and Pace Sky+HD boxes.

The last Sky+HD box we aim to make the Sky Anytime+ service available on is the Amstrad 780 and the software required for this box type is currently undergoing testing. We had hoped to have rolled out this software already, however our testing processes have identified some issues.

Unfortunately at present the software is not yet ready to release and as yet we have no current timescales on when this will be ready. As soon as we have a further update we will let you know on progress.

We will be getting in touch with customers who have registered for updates.

It sounds like it could be another few weeks (or months) before we get Anytime+ working on the 780.

Because it is activated per account and because you have a new box coming it has been turned on for you in readiness for your new box.

I think the point that carproy is making is that, as it is currently working on his 780, this proves that it is technically possible. Therefore why don't Sky get their fingers out and allow other 780 users to enable the service?

The software may not be perfect, but is probably good enough to release. The few remaining bugs can always be fixed in a future update.

Non-Anytime+ functionality still has bugs, but it works well enough most of the time and is gradually being improved by updates.

Watching the constant stream of Anytime+ adverts on TV, in the cinema and in magazines is really p***ing off a lot of long-time customers (myself included).
We would prefer to have something that works well most of the time, with the promise of fixes in an update in the near future, than no service at all.

      Though this might help
I just E-mailed sky complaints explaining the problem and got a call back within 10mins!!!
Spoke to a really helpful guy who instantly offered me a new free box or a 1TB box for £49, so I took that, can't believe how simple it was compared to going though there customer services who were no help at all. Now very happy with sky again
