      Download times?

Given a broadband connection speed of 7127 kbps, can anyone advise me how long it should take to download a 44 minute 582mb programme? It has taken 30 minutes just to download 2% so far! I am using the Solwise 85mbps Homeplug ethernet adaptor. I am just wondering whether I have a wrong setting somewhere either on my PC or on the STB. The STB is on software version 4F3153/ SYSF26.76.

      Re: Download times?

Your sync speed should give you an actual download speed of around 6200kbps. This equates to a transfer speed of about 760KB/s or 0.74MB/s, giving you a total of just over 13 minutes for the 582MB file. This the best theoretical speed, the real world speed could be about 50% more. eg, My transfer speed is a bit better than yours at around 970KB/s and I have downloaded a 520Mb program in 12 minutes. Theoretically, this should have come down in about 9 minutes.

If possible check the transfer speed given by your homeplugs. It is possible they are faulty or not fitted properly, which could much reduce your transfer speed. I use an ethernet cable connected to a second router which in turn is connected to the STB.
