I just rang sky customer services. I got the same message really as psdmc got. Either my box is not compatiabe or that they still have not finished the anytime+ software updates for my version of HD boxes. Just wait a little longer and it should "automatically be activated by the anytime+ department

Re: Anytime+ Amstrad 780 problem thread...

I noticed one of my programmes that I record from Universal HD recorded all green and pink blocks. Sent a tweet to @skyHD who said they didn't know anything about it, but would pass info on ... I just assumed it was a transmission glitch. Until my hubby went to watch football on one of the HD channels and had the same problem. We then checked and all of the HD channels were the same. Spoke to @SkyHD again who gave me a link to one of the standard help pages on the internet, but actually just a full reset (switching off at the socket for a few minutes, then back on again) fixed it. I did notice that the version number has gone up again to .03 now, so I'm guessing that is what caused the problem. Its a pity they can't do these updates so that they automatically reset the box - sometimes it takes a while for us to realise - especially if we are a few days behind on Sky+ viewing.

The new firmware seems to have screwed up my FF & RW functions now .... When watching a program and reaching the adverts I press FF a few times to get it up to 30x and the damn thing jumps backwards .... Last night while watching 'Whale Wars' it jumped back by about 20 mins.

      Anyone else getting this?

      Which version are you on?

Each version recently that I've had has caused some problem or other - sometimes it is the sound going weird, sometimes the picture failing - each time I had to actually switch the box off at the wall for a few minutes and then switch it back on again. I think they recommend it being switched off for at least 3 minutes, and then waiting for a minute after switching it back on again before pressing the "Sky" button on the remote.

I really don't understand why they can't get the box to do a reset after it receives an update ... it would certainly save the hassle of trying to work out why the thing isn't working, and why recordings have not worked correctly.

Re: Anytime+ Amstrad 780 problem thread...

Today I've officially complained (by email), I have laid it on pretty heavily to them (subscribed 18 years, always purchased the new products at full price only for them to become free, paying them nearly 100 a month etc etc)

I do find it very unacceptable that a service that started in Oct/Nov 2010 is still not available to me in May 2011!

I never wanted an Amstrad box (told the engineer but had no choice) I knew they had problems with updates and general faults... and here I am stuck with a box that is clearly NOT FUTURE PROOF!

I'll report any feedback unless its just generic and unhelpful.

hmmm.... still no response... guess my custom isn't worth as much as the guy who recently signed up, got everything for free, a better box and will probably cancel in a year lol

Re: Anytime+ Amstrad 780 problem thread...

I had the problem with HD playback showing only green and pink blocks again today - I had thought it was a problem with the recording, but it turns out that it is the box. I reset it, then started playing the affected programme again, and it was fine. This has only happened since the last update.

I mentioned your case, not by name, katash to sky hd twiiter support. They said they were not aware of any 780's been activated, but if yours has it must have been done on a case by case nature. In other words i am not an important enough customer. Just rang to cancel all movies, and four tv packages. not paying 98 a month to sky to be told i am not an important enough customer

Re: Anytime+ Amstrad 780 problem thread...

Finally received a response to my complaint.

Pretty much a copy/paste respone - NO DATES for switch on, just that when all the boxes have received the update they will start switching them on.

Oh... and if I register on their Anytime+ site - they'll notify me when the service is ready! lol.... seem to remember doing that LAST SUMMER! lol
