I am not that fussed about having Anytime+ working or not, but I just find it odd that it doesnt work as I dont have any problem with any other numerous networked devices. I can only presume it must be some kind of router configuration issue.

This is really odd. It has started working today, but still says service connection: fail on the network tab.

Re: Anytime+ - NON Sky BB Router

As suggestion made elsewhere on this forum is to prioritise the Sky+ box.

If you go into the settings for your router and enable QoS based upon it's MAC address, this might help.

If your router, as mine does, lists 'Attached devices', you should be able to match the IP address with the MAC address of your Sky STB. It is then a matter of setting the priority to 'High' for that address.

I've just set mine this evening, having been playing with some software to see if I can capture the Port number/s used. I need to spend more time with that to find what I'm after though.

I'll report back to let people know if this has resolved my issue in due course. I need to let it run for a few days to prove it first.

What you can try, as I suggested earlier is to give the STB a fixed address and reserve this in the router settings. Now go to the router settings, to the section that deals with DMZ, and put the address reserved for the STB into the DMZ. This should remove any problems which may be caused by the router firewall without opening any ports.

      Hey guys.

Thank you all so much for your help.
I'll try out the suggestions posted here.

@Scubbie, I can't try my original sky router as I have mislaid it during a home move. :-(
Been looking to buy one off of Ebay as I am unsure how much Sky charge for a new one.

As far as I am aware, I have not changed the DNS settings on the router I am using. they should just be the default that the router has
Does Sky use their own specific DNS?

@Isitme Will do, but I get teh feeling it's not the cable as there is a network detected, just failing the service connection.

@sohjh The "service connection: fail" is the exact issue I get.

I bet it's something bloody stupid!

Re: Anytime+ - NON Sky BB Router

Just as an experiment I have connected up a Sagem router with standard Sagem firmware, which makes it a non-Sky router. It connects the STB with no problem and no changes to its configuration. I downloaded a 612Mb documentary in a few minutes. I think that rules out a non-Sky router being unable to connect.

Re: Anytime+ - NON Sky BB Router

Hi guys, well I called Sky, as nothing I did made a difference.

After the rigmarole of going through the fault finding the guy asked me if I was using the original Sky router.
I had to say no as I broke mine.
Luckily the engineer on the phone said he would send me a new sky router.
If the problem persists with the new router I'm to call them back.

      So, result.
I'll let you guys know what happens.

      Greg.

Re: Anytime+ - NON Sky BB Router

Got a similar problem, just upgraded today from another ISP. Haven't got my Sky router yet as they said I can still use the one they sent me in 2008(!) as I was a previous Sky BB customer. They have agreed to send me another one which should be here tomorrow.

I have managed to get my password etc. and connected on my own Netgear router. I have connected the Sky box to network through homeplugs.

Sky box connects okay in the "network" tab and shows as an Attached Device on the router, but still Anytime + does not show up on the screen.

Have checked Broadband setting on the Sky box so it's "on".

Only thing left I guess is a forced download but it looks like the box is upgraded already.

Is it because I've only just upgraded to unlimited or is there something else I need to do?

Re: Anytime+ - NON Sky BB Router

I mentioned that I would update this thread on what has been happening.

Essentially a little improvement, but not perfect.

The prioritising the MAC address of the Sky STB has helped, but if I have a lot of activity on my torrent PC, then Anytime+ can't be accessed & 'Service Connection' comes up as 'Fail'.

As for searching for the ports used, this wasn't as easy as I was hoping. I've managed to capture some of the traffic sent by the Sky STB, but not sufficient to identify the ports used. I'll need to find another program or let someone with more experience help.
