      SkyHD box not detecting wired network

      Hi there,

      I signed up for notification from Sky ages ago to be told when I could get Anytime+, but got nothing. Today I saw that it should be active for Samsung HD boxes, and the Sky upgrade pages allowed me to add it to my account so I assumed I'd just been missed. I quickly had the email through to say the 'sale' is complete and it is now active.

      I have plugged an ethernet cable into the back of the Sky box, and into my Homeplug but nothing happens. I have waited ten minutes for the onscreen prompt that should apparently appear but still nothing. I can also see nothing about internet/broadband connections mentioned in any of the Options/Settings menus (should there be?).

      I know that the Homeplug connection works because it is the same one I am using for my PS3 and I have also tested it with the PC I am currently typing this on - this gets connected and assigned an IP address withing a few seconds so all is fine with the connection.

      I don't really want to call Sky on this as they are bound to tell me that Homeplugs are unsupported and ask me to move my router closer to the HD box, which is not possible, or to pay the 60 for the glorified wifi dongle.

      Can anyone make any suggestions as to what I might have missed or what I am missing - is my SkyHD box up to date and if not how can I get it updated? Under the System Details menu I can see I have a Samsung box with model number 1.4.300, version number 973006, operating system version 1.32B12 and EPG software version sky+9.10.13a

      EDIT: In another thread I've seen someone suggesting there should be a Network menu under the Services one. I don't have this.

      Update your system software. Unplug from mains, hold down back up button on top of STB, reconnect power without letting go of the back up button. After 15 secs all the LEDs will light on the STB. Turn off telly to avoid any chance of screen burn. The download should take around 10mins, but may be less. When all LEDs go out and STB returns to standby, wait a further 3 mins before taking out of standby.

      If you switch off your equipment at the mains overnight, as some do, you will miss OTA software downloads. As long as you leave the sky box switched on at the mains, in standby or or fully powered up, you will receive the downloads.

      I never switch off or unplug the box unless it freezes (about once a month or so).

      Must just be on the slow lane with receiving updates. But it's sorted now.

      Now you've got it all working with Anytime+ & the network, I'd suggest that you browse this forum for reasons to fix your freezes now
