Thumbs down Anytime+ with HD-only subscription

My HD pack subscription gives me access to many of the HD channels for packs that I don't otherwise subscribe to; this is a legacy of Sky originally providing the HD channels for all 6 programme packs.

Having access to Sky Arts in HD, it didn't matter that I was not allowed to watch in SD, ridiculous though that was. However, the Anytime+ service for these channels is also being denied to me. Sky's Customers Service seem happy to explain that the Anytime+ service is of too low a quality for me, as an HD-only subscriber, to be allowed to watch it.

So the situation has gone from ridiculous to bloody annoying. One of the reasons I subscribed to HD in the summer is the promise of imminent Anytime+. Delivering the service only in SD is unsatisfactory. Telling me that I must pay extra to get even SD adds insult to injury.

No need to worry, you will only have access to the additional HD channels till the anniversary of your HD subscription.

PS, I agree with you sentiments, bet Sky will be offering additional Anytime content for a consideration in the not too distant future.
How come the box ain't got iPlayer yet?

Terrible. Having to pay to watch subscription channels, whatever next? Oh, I know - they will take away the HD channels you're not subscribing to.

Anytime+ is a free service to subscribers. You are not subscribing, so you get no channels. Simples.

      Re: Anytime+ with HD-only subscription

I pay an extra 10 per month. Sky are perfectly entitled to change the deal, provided they give the affected customer a chance to opt out of the new deal. I retain access to Sky Arts and others for the duration of my 12-month contract because Sky don't want to provide grounds for early termination. It's not just me locked in for 12 months, it's Sky.

I consider Anytime+ as part of what was promised for my extra payment. Sky should give me access to the newly-defined "extra" channels on Anytime+ for the duration of the contract or let me unsubscribe from the HD pack. Hopefully Sky's admin will realise this and sort things out.

Good luck. Next time though you should read the T&Cs more carefully. Anytime+ has never been advertised as linked to the HD pack, except for Showcase. You are getting the HD content on Showcase, so you are getting what you are paying for.

At the moment Anytime+ is a free perk for those on Sky Broadband only. What about the millions who are paying for the full Sky World package who cannot get Anytime+? They have something to complain about, unlike you who expect to get free access to programs others are paying for. It has been common knowledge for a long time that the download section of Anytime+ would be SD only, the Showcase section being nearly all HD. 1 is not a lot to pay for a Pack you want to see.

      Re: Anytime+ with HD-only subscription

Everything I have ever read about Anytime+ linked it to HD and Sky Unlimited. It's only now that I see references to a new Sky+ box and Everyday Lite. Did the T&C ever contradict this? If so, I will shutup and apologise.

Whatever the legalities, I still feel that telling me that part of Sky's service is of too low a quality for me to be allowed to watch it is absurd. Telling a customer to pay extra to work around the absurdity is not good customer relations, even if it is only 1 per month. Neither is telling a customer that he's not paying for what he's getting.

First of all I have to emphasise that I post as an individual and anything I post are my thoughts, other than being a customer, I have no connection whatsoever with Sky. Also this Forum has nothing to do with Sky, it is purely Unofficial. If you want to make an official complaint you will have to do this directly to Sky, or through the Official Sky forum which you will find here - Sky Help Forum - Sky Help Forum There you will get an official answer to your complaint. Good luck.

First point - you appear to have a selective memory. Did the T&Cs ever say you would get Anytime+ in HD? (Answer: No) It will probably arrive eventually but there are other issues, like rolling out to all Sky HD boxes, then non-Sky ISPs to resolve as well.

Second point: If you aren't getting regular SD channels (you mention Sky Arts) because you don't subscribe to the relevant pack, isn't that the same thing? Have you complained to Sky that you can only watch the HD version of those channels? It's nothing to do with quality, everything to do with your subscription package.

PS I don't work for Sky either, I'm just prepared to pay for what I choose to watch and don't like subsiding those not willing to do that.
