It is quite possible the crippled Sky firmware needs this update to work, whereas a standard router wont. I would not surprise me if this is another red herring, put out to keep those who don't have Sky broadband quiet. Those who are using their own router and have an updated box will find out on Tuesday I suppose. Tuesday seems a strange day to start the roll out.
Given that Sky has announced that all the HD boxes won't even be updated until the end of the year, I expect that they won't be done until Easter.

All of Sky's updates seem to be very last minute or even late, look how long the HD EPG took to roll out.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

from what ive read across the internet etc.

      1. anytime+ is enabled at skys end if there is a sky bb package on(everyday/unlimited)
      2. the box's status is just a basic connection check between the router etc. and not linked to sky software
      3. although it is possible in everyway for anytime+ to be set up on non sky-bb lines they wont do it yet so that they have an exclusive linked to their bb
      4. anytime+ will still feature anytime std. and anytime+ content is downloaded to the personal storage allowance
      5. the sky wireless adaptor is not required but it is the suppported option by sky along with ethernet.

      i think thats about it

oh and they are starting the rollout before all customers can get it, which im my opinion is not fair.
and i wish they could write up some term and conditions so they can enble it for non sky bb customers.

Re: Sky Anytime + (PLUS) roll out update

yeah, you don't need a router firmware update. Don't know where that little bit of information came from. The only update needed is for the HD box.

As Binary said, its all activated from Skys end, and is dependant on the products you have on your account. Its just another subscription, like Sky+ or the HD channels. All HD boxes can do it, but it needs to be enabled.

So the Gospel according to Twitter is wrong-
@nickelf yes absolutely just make sure you're using the official Sky router, and check your status online on Tuesday.
How much more of what has been posted here is nonsense? Is this tweet really an official Sky outlet?

It's probably Sky marketing people, who think they know what's happening.

I think you're wrong. The majority of Sky subscribers will not have heard of Anytime+, and of those that have (like me), many will really not be interested in having it. And, how long before Sky introduce a charge for the 'free' service that you will have grown accustomed to using ?

I for one will not be reaching for the phone on October 26th
